Cisco: Asset Group Creation

My team and I iterated on and created a new user experience flow. This was to allow our users to group various assets as they saw fit, so they could better manage these assets for various functions. Some of these functions could include updating assets or allowing these grouped assets to be scanned.

Summary

Project Initiation

  • Lead and created user flows for this new feature

  • Ensured consistency in user experiences across platform environments

Adherence to Design Systems

  • Successfully navigated Cisco’s visual design systems revamp during the project.

  • Ensured alignment with the updated design guidelines.

Design and Wireframes

  • Created wireframes using Figma software.

  • Anticipated pain points and unaddressed issues.

  • Onboarded content and visual designers to align with project needs.

Collaboration and Iteration

  • Worked closely with design directors, leads, project managers, product managers, content, and visual designers.

  • Managed numerous iterations and diverse ideas for the user experience.

  • Conducted team calls to review designs and address feedback.

Impact Beyond the Project

  • Some UX patterns I created for this project influence other spaces within the organization.

  • I also utilized these new UX patterns in other areas of the admin space of CX Cloud.

Transition and Knowledge Transfer

  • Organizational decision shifted project management from the “Admin” team to the “Assets & Coverage” team.

  • Facilitated a smooth transition to the new team.

  • Conducted knowledge transfer sessions to set up the assets team for success.

Worked on these designs and their iterations with various team members that included design directors, design leads, project managers, product managers, content, and visual designers. There were a lot of iterations to work through and a lot of varying ideas as to how the user experience should occur.

I made team calls so that my team and I could review designs I had created and ensure all members were on board or field any feedback or questions anyone may have had. As we continued our work as a team, I also included reviews with our design director and product/project managers so everyone understood the direction we were going in.

During this design process, Cisco went through a visual design systems revamp so we made sure to adhere to those new design systems. I worked with my visual designer on multiple sync call sessions to help with anything during this transitional process.

Towards the end of this project, there was an organizational decision to move this away from being managed by the “Admin” team and instead, it was to be managed by the “Assets & Coverage” team. While I found it unfortunate that I could no longer help with this project, I was happy to help facilitate the transition of everything to this new team. During the transition, we held multiple call sessions to conduct knowledge transfers to help set up the assets team to the best of our ability. Some of the UX patterns I had made for this project found their way into other project spaces I and other team members worked on so I was really happy about that aspect.
