Avpro Site Redesign

Created a luxury e-commerce website for a client who trades new and preowned business aircraft. Collaborated with various stakeholders both external and internal. I presented initial designs to our clients, gathered feedback, and answered any questions that came up during said presentation.

Summary

Client and Market Context

  • Avpro exclusively represents clients in the business aircraft market.

  • Routine transitions involve 100 aircraft per year with over one billion dollars.

Design Phases and Collaboration

  • Iterated through information architecture, wireframes, and final designs.

  • Virtual discussions and a final walkthrough with the client of designs.

  • Used Basecamp for feedback and organization.

Complex Product Page Design

  • Jet planes require elaborate product pages due to complex components.

  • Researched competitors and aerospace websites for insights and inspiration.

  • Grouped details like engine specs and flight performance metrics.

Avpro exclusively represents clients seeking to buy, sell, and trade new and preowned business aircraft. They would routinely transact 100 aircraft per year worth more than one billion dollars. This was the first luxury goods e-commerce website I had been able to work on and I enjoyed learning about their unique market and users.

Working with the client, I iterated through the different design phases of information architecture, wireframes, and final designs. Most of these iterations were discussed virtually but I did have the opportunity to travel and visit the client for a final walkthrough of the designs. Feedback and designs were shared and organized using Basecamp which allowed me to keep track of the feedback, changes, and timelines.

While keeping track of these designs, the most complicated page design was the product page. Jet planes have complex components that potential buyers want to know about, so a product page for them is far more elaborate than a standard e-commerce product page. To better architect the information on this page, I researched competitor websites and related aerospace company websites for insights on how to present the information in a meaningful way to users. This research allowed me to group details like engine specs and flight performance metrics into relatable categories.
